- 36 student Explorers are divided into three squads led by a returning Explorer student leader.
- Student Explorers are mentored by FBI Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts, and Professional
Staff.
- Student Explorers are introduced to a different stage of the investigation process at each session
and ultimately run their own mock federal investigation.
- Student Explorers will receive training and presentations on case management, interviewing,
surveillance, crisis negotiation, search warrants, undercover operations, evidence response
team, bomb technician program, SWAT, behavioral analysis, and more.
- Student Explorers will also receive instruction on career skills such as how to interview for job
and how to write a resume.
- Explorer sessions are held every other Thursday from September through April from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the FBI Chicago Office in Chicago, IL.
- We host 4 virtual enrichment nights where we bring in speakers from other offices to talk about their programs or experiences in the FBI.
- Sessions include case presentations, team building activities, and dynamic hands-on exercises.
- The final session is a graduation ceremony held at the FBI range in North Chicago.
